i'm old fashioned
today i was shopping for bedding stuffs to make the bedroom look appealing.. i love my tattered comforter thank you very much, but if people come to look at the house, it might be a better idea to have something.. i don't know.. decent on the bed :p
so i was looking at comforter sets and thinking that they would do fine... i kinda liked this black and white flowered one.. but meh
then i found the "heirloom quilts" such interesting patterns and old fashioned looks.. oh yes this is what i want on my bed
and not all the time... just for special occasions :P
so i collected the various pieces to put my idea together, shams, skirts, throw pillows, all the while gloating about how good the bed will look
ok so it was more expensive than the comforter sets, but i adore it
and i can't help thinking how appropriate it will look in the stone cottage of my dreams ;]
i found out yesterday that my cottage will indeed be for sale sometime around March..
this both thrills and dismays me..
i'm thrilled i may be able to actually live there... but dismayed at the idea that i won't be able to make it look the way i want it... they are completely redoing it, but i am sure they aren't going to go to any lengths to put higher quality into it.. i picture cheap carpeting and vinyl flooring :/
not that there's anything wrong with that... i just had my vision..
i feel like they could never ever get the right look for the place, but *i* could :P
plus i am afraid they will want more than the place is worth because of all the newness >_o
so i suppose this is one of those hope for the best, expect the worst and take what you get situations
but i REALLY want that house dammit,
there happens to be a little stone cottage i met this weekend that i have come to lust after. no one lives in it, although it's obvious that people are working on it.
it's story is sad... it's sat empty on the corner of a couple of exhausted streets for years. i've heard there have been people working there off and on, but nothing serious.
it's back fence is decayed, it's guts yanked out and strewn in various places as it's fitted with new, shiny windows and innards
it has absolutely nothing on the house i live in now... it's petite by almost 1,000 square feet... it's lot is a speck next to the half acre i call a yard...
but it's adorable
i know it has two bathrooms.. how many bedrooms or living areas is still a mystery, but two bathrooms is the important bit.
but since a relocation of my life seems to be inevitable, i want this to be my new home, i love everything about it
with the help of someone experienced in snooping, we've traced the owner to Louisiana and sent them a letter in hopes they may be willing to sell the cottage to me.. without sounding as if i were drooling over the front step, which i was.
my hopes are that they have been remodeling in preparation of selling and that they will willingly allow me to purchase it as is so i can do exactly what i want with it...
i suppose i'll have my answer when and if we get a response

What? No pictures? lol.
It reminds me of the little stone house that used to be on the corner of the road that I live on. They were working on it for a while, but then they knocked it down. :'(
strangest thing, had my camera.. did not take photos....
if i get positive feedback from the letter i will ;]
no one should ever ever knock down cute little stone houses!!!
oh hon, it sounds Adorable , you,ll have to take a picture and post it. I would love to have something like that . Hope you get it.
Best of luck! :)
Realy spiffy I hope that goes well for you
thanks everyone :D
your mother looked older, more worn... your father has grayed and looked fragile
i saw them only briefly... their lips never formed the words their eyes spoke but i am sure they know i knew what was said
i said no words of comfort... how could i? when the only reason i had for coming was to say good bye to things that used to be, the places we used to laugh and share sobering thoughts.. farewell to the dreams we formed about the future together, knowing we'd be wrapped up in each others no matter how long we were parted, how far our lives took us
sometimes i wonder what thoughts ran through your head those last days, i pondered them as i traced those paths we laid out
i wonder if you knew what was happening, or if it was a sudden despair that over took you at the last..
but then i understood it doesn't matter
and i realize it never did
you told me it didn't, when you said sometimes life never seemed to be more than this right here, this moment and those past... never the ones coming...
so i remember before... before the destruction... before the ache that sent you somewhere i could never follow
no one could, though we all watch down that road every day...
your mother watches that road, watches her son walk away forever
your father watches that road, watches his only child disappear over the horizon
your friends watch it, as we reminisce and smile over worn out stories from a lifetime ago.. you know the ones ;]
we all watch as if that could bring you strolling back to us
my visit to that place, that city was too long in coming, i turned my back on the past for too long..
too long in coming to face demons i know i will always have... could i... could they.. could any one have said something, done something... anything to stop the hopelessness?
again, i realize the answers are unimportant
the only question that needs answering is how will i choose to remember..
the visit was indeed too long in coming... but it would never be too long not to feel at home again, where i know i can find you...
always.
good night 'Athon
but never goodbye

I want a comforter that's got a plaid sort of pattern...you know, it looks like flannel, but isn't made from that material. I can't find one. So I'm stuck with the plain black comforter for now lol.
Hmm...that's confusing, plaid versus flannel which is appropriate when describing a pattern...and which is appropriate when describing material?

plaid is a pattern and flannel is a material
i get what you mean... i remember when plaid was popular for comforters.. or it seemed to be ;]
have you tried Target? i *think* i saw some plaid comforters there...
although they may have been quilts.. can't remember :o
i hope you find what you want :D

I wish you luck with the new place (when you get it) and I know you will be able to make it 'yours' in more ways than one ;-)
